Greenhouse Maternity Session

Mar 4, 2024

Location matters…it just does. When we start planning your session (maternity, family, sibling, or senior)…I always ask the question about what overall feel you would like your session to have. Do you want to feel cozy at home, are you looking for an urban downtown feel, do you want to be in a wide open field or perhaps a manicured garden? There are endless opportunities and my goal is to find the right fit and feel for you at this exact moment. When planning for this Greensboro maternity session with Addison, we talked through many options knowing outdoors felt right…the Greensboro Arboretum was our first stop and then I proposed a 2nd still “outdoorsy” feel at the Pinetop Greenhouse…it was the perfect choice and gave us the sweetest feelings of expectation for spring and for this new baby that is about to change their world for the better.

I love maternity sessions for so many reasons. In general, I just loved being pregnant myself (hence 4 kids in my own life). The anticipation, the feeling of growing a human inside of me, the complete knowing of this tiny person before anyone else. It’s remarkable. And I love the gift of coming alongside this beautiful moment in your life. But more than that…I love what these photos will soon remind you of…how strong and capable you are, of how profound the beauty of this moment really is and how extraordinary a woman you are. I am genuinely thrilled to be a part of capturing this remarkable journey to motherhood with you.

Inspired and always in my feelings when reading the words of @hannahrowrites…this poem just got me as I was staring at photos of this expectant mom and dad to be…

I want my child to be

A woman who walks among trees like they are people. Curious, devoted, inquisitive. Who walks among people like they are trees. Careful, reverent. Who listens to the words of a religion that isn’t hers and wonders how others find meaning. Who sees a stranger as someone who somebody loves. Who meets her own shadow and asks it what it needs to grow. A woman who looks into the bathroom mirror at a crowded bar one night after dancing for hours, who sees messy hair and tired eyes, lipstick teeth and sweat. Who smiles instead of frowns, who stares her reflection right in the eyes and says I love you, I love you, I love you the most.

Addison and Baker…thank you for spending the afternoon with me. I cannot wait to meet this new little one in the coming weeks!

When should you schedule your own maternity session? Most expectant mothers look to schedule their maternity sessions between 28-35 weeks. You want your baby bump to be obvious, but you also want to find that sweet spot where you still feel good and feel like showing that perfect baby belly off. When we meet to discuss the details of your session we will find the time frame that feels best to you. Be sure to visit my gallery site for inspiration in your own session planning. I can’t wait to start planning with you!
